Ways to Streamline the Review Process
You’re reviewing the first draft of a design and it’s not quite perfect, what do you do? First thing’s first: Revisions are a totally normal and expected part of the design process! We never want our clients to feel apprehensive about sending feedback. Design is a collaborative process and we want to ensure that our work is solving our client’s design problems. Streamlining the review process allows for direct, clear communication and saves time for our clients and our team.
Pick a decision maker & agree on the design goals
When working on a design project, there may be multiple stakeholders involved. It can help to have one person communicating with the designers. By assigning one person to collect and distill your team’s feedback to the designers, you’re saving a lot of time and ensuring that the feedback is on track for your goals. Limiting the amount of people sending feedback is going to prevent a lot of the back and forth that eats into a project’s time and budget.
Collect All The Information Needed
Ideally we like to have all the necessary information before starting a design project but that isn’t always the case. The most important information we need is the goal for the project because that informs the design strategy. While it’s nice to have information like dimensions for the project and the final copy, we can always adjust that. Having an approved design goal prior to starting means that the changes down the line will be more manageable.
Remember, it’s not just about aesthetics
Design is about solving a problem through strategy. When you’re reviewing a design, don’t get hung up on personal aesthetic preferences and instead focus on whether the design is in line with your design goals and strategy.
Be Direct
Don’t be shy about sending feedback! We value direct communication from our clients. At the end of the day, we want you to be happy with the work and for it to bring value to your business.
